CAD and CAM for easy processes in rib and slot machining


It is especially clear when machining ribs and grooves how important it is to combine CAD and CAM functions in a consistent overall process. First of all, a slot is not just a recess that does not penetrate through the part: Without appropriate experience, it is not even so easy to decide whether or not this recess is actually suitable for machining with a special milling program for slots. With special preparation functions, Tebis helps you find answers to important questions in advance and prepare the geometry accordingly: What part areas are suitable for the machining operation? How deep is the slot? Which slots can be milled and which ones require eroding? What strategies, materials, tools and machines are used? Do we mill in full, or do we first rough? 

Subsequent NC programming is simple thanks to the high degree of automation. Tebis also supports modern high-performance tools and powerful machine controls. Tebis lets you manufacture ribs and slots quickly, efficiently and at high quality. 

Prepare CAD geometry

Analyze the part and create extension and extended surfaces quickly and easily. Suitable areas for slot machining are automatically detected and subdivided into categories such as bases, flanks and radii. Combine geometry elements that can be machined together in slot tracks. Derive center curves for subsequent finishing with no additional design effort.

Create CAM programs

Load your standardized templates in the Job Manager. Select the geometry elements, categorized and combined in layers. Roughing and finishing programs can be easily combined with no extra effort. Use HPC cutters to rough the slot with only one path in full cut. If desired, you can also rough full-cut areas trochoidally and manufacture the part with conventional tools while saving a lot of time. Finish the geometry based on the center paths automatically generated during preparation: This enables the creation of a path layout optimally adapted to the geometry – the material is removed very quickly and interruptions in the NC paths in the rib intersections are avoided.

Optimize NC processing

Check during NC calculation to see if there are potential collisions with the part. If desired, these areas can be automatically bypassed in 5-axis simultaneous processing in the release direction. Check the clamping and adjust if necessary. Simulate the machining and check for collisions with all components.
